Women only sportive rides launched

Earlier this year, we ran a piece on the DIVA100, a women’s only charity bike ride to raise money for Action Medical Research. Now comes the announcement of a more serious looking sportive event just for women.
The event, Cycletta, which is supported by British Cycling, will feature two 40km rides on closed roads in the north and south of the UK during this year.
Cycletta North takes place on June 26 at Trafford Park in Cheshire, while Cycletta South takes place on September 11 near Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire.
Challenging routes
Both routes have been specifically designed to provide a challenge, while remaining achievable and accessible for women with varying degrees of fitness. Full details of the routes will be released on the Cycletta website once road closures have been agreed with the police forces that cover the rides.
Women interested in signing up to either one of the rides will have to part with £45 to secure a place with entries on a first come first served basis. To find more information or register, click this link.
Training tips
The Cycletta experience will begin from registration, with regular training tips, equipment and nutrition advice, including personal anecdotes of support from the current Olympic gold medallist and women’s cycling role model Victoria Pendleton, who is an ambassador for Cycletta.
On the day of the rides, there will be full mechanic, medical, and nutritional support with even a post event helmet hair remedy centre on hand.
Victoria will be joined by a fellow Cycletta ambassadors including; Miranda Hart, Fern Britton, andClare Balding, who will do their part to encourage and motivate women to take up cycling. Macmillan Cancer Support is the partner charity of Cycletta.
