Second hand and used bicycle buying guide
The Wheelie Good Round-Up

Well it appears our little round-up of cycling related bite sized goodies was a hit judging by the number of page visits last week. We hope the round-up helps bring a smile to your face this weekend. Let’s get started.
1. Crocheted cycling shorts
We’re not sure if these wool-based cycling 3/4 length shorts will keep you warm but at least someone is attempting to redefine the garment. The shorts are handmade and crocheted from cotton spandex yarn. Additionally for a night ride, there is a highly reflective fine glass bead thread all the way through the leg. Judging from the pictures, they appear to be highly reflective.
2. Rocket bike
A bicycle that goes from 0-60 seconds in five seconds with rocket propulsion sounds vaguely appealing. All you need is some asphalt (road tar) it appears and a steady hand if this video from the Mad Scientists at National Geographic is anything to go by. Good luck if you have a go.
3. Star Wars cycling style
This R2D2 cycle helmet looks like it could be handy against an unexpected light sabre duel never mind the practicalities of protecting one’s head when out cycling. Either way, may the force be with you!
4. A short cut too far
Car drivers can be an impatient lot. One such driver in Kingston this week decided that instead of getting to his destination on the road system, he would try a short cut across a segregated cycle lane. However the driver got his/her just deserts when the car got stuck between two bollards that divided the cycle lane. Why the driver never factored in the bollards when he/she made the move we will never know.
5. Tractor tricycle
It may not be the most elegant looking tricycle we’ve ever seen but this tricycle built by Lianjun Zhang in China, certainly does pack a punch (also see picture above). The front wheel comes from a tractor. At more than five feet high, we’re sure cars will give it a wide berth.
