Going Going Bike

Jan 242014

Our friends at Road Cycling UK have recently introduced a series of ‘How To’ maintenance guides videos that we think are a great addition to our own maintenance section in the Know-How area of the marketplace.

There will be 10 videos in the series of ‘How To’ guides with guidance coming from Jon Hayes, a bike mechanic at Ride, Dorset.

In partnership with Road Cycling UK’ and the Mpora.com bike network, we’ll be featuring all the videos week by week for the next 10 weeks. You will also be able to find them all in our Know-How section on the market place under Bicycle Maintenance section as they are added every week.

First we start off with Episode 1, which is an in-depth video (watch in the video player below) on how to replace a chain: checking for wear, removing, measuring the length of a replacement chain and installing it. In this edit, Jon demonstrates replacing a chain on a 10-speed Shimano 105 drivetrain, but discusses the idiosyncrasies of systems from the other big players in the component market: Campagnolo and SRAM.

We hope you enjoy these videos and they’ll be of use when you have to do the jobs that we feature.
