Pop art shows the car that the bicycle is king

ShareThis

Ryan Heshka Cinelli Artwork

The lovely bit of cover art above adorns the 2012 product catalogue of Italian bicycle maker Cinelli.

Very much tongue and cheek I’d think you’d agree, we think it is a great piece of pop surrealism.

The cover artwork is a painting by Canadian artist Ryan Heshk. Mr Heshk is at pains to point out he has nothing against the car itself and the work was derived from being given complete freedom by Cinelli to produce anything he liked.

He told the New York Times that he wanted the artwork to look “like the stereotypical Italian ’60s movie gone wrong. I wanted to turn the bicycle into something big and powerful.”
