Music videos featuring a bikeShareThis
The other day I stumbled across The Bike Song by Mark Ronson on YouTube. The video is very much in keeping with the cool factor of the bicycle that is currently in vogue with shots of bikes and retro cycle chic set to a story about the joys that riding a bike with friends can bring. So it got me thinking, what other music videos feature bikes so prominently.
Corinne Bailey Rae “Put Your Records On” – A song and video that very much gives us that summer feeling of a bike ride out in the countryside.
Dinosaur Jnr “Over it” – Ageing grunge rockers show they have still have it with this ode to skating and biking. The video features some impressive BMX tricks, though I’m convinced the band had stunt doubles for this.
Lily Allen “Ldn” – Very much what I do most days in London on my bike. Obviously I’m not as cute as our Lily. Riding down Primrose Hill is a no no though Lily.
Kraftwerk “Tour de France” – Kraftwerk did a video to the short version of the 1983 release of this classic electronica track. In the video, it appears those German boys are out on a training ride.
The Smiths “Stop Me if You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” – As a child of the 80s, I must confess I was a big Smiths fan. This video features the band and some pals parading around on bikes in Salford in some form of critical mass ride. Funnily enough some of the haircuts and bikes are now back in fashion in certain parts of East London.
Bat For Lashes “What’s a Girl to Do?” – A gorgeous girl on a bike and some choreographed BMX trickery, what more could you ask for. Great song as well.
