London Bike Show 2013

The London Bike Show returns this week running from Thursday, January 17, to Sunday, January 20, at the Excel exhibition centre in East London.

Going Going Bike has been very active in the show in the past, hosting charity auctions in the previous two years. This year, we will be visitors to the show, casting our eyes at the new bikes and bike apparel on show.

What’s going on

Bike brands exhibiting include Ridgeback, Campagnolo Scott, Genesis, Cube Bikes and Brompton. All of whom will be displaying 2013 models of their bikes.

Sir Chris Hoy will be in attendance on Friday where he will be on the British Cycling stand launching the new adidas British kit. Paracyclists and Olympians Jody Cundy and Mark Colbourne will also be in attendance on Saturday and Sunday respectively. (Update: Danny MacAskill will be signing autographs on the Continental Tyres stand on Friday between 3pm and 5pm)

The performance theatre, sponsored by Jaguar, will feature daily bike maintenance sessions, film screenings as well as the IG Sigma Sport and  Madison Genesis bike team launches.

If you are looking to be entertained, The Animal Bike Tour will be putting on demos with trial riding and aerial style tricks in a specially built area of the exhibition venue. Visitors will be able to try out bikes before they buy at the RoadCyclingUK Test Track, while DMR will be putting on daily MTB races on a specially built Pump Track course.

The major attraction at this year’s show will undoubtedly be the IG London Nocturne, the UK’s only indoor criterium. Racing on the specially designed indoor circuit takes place on every day of the London Bike Show with the Elite men’s race taking place on the Saturday.

The London Bike Show runs alongside The Outdoors Show, The Active Travel Show and the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show. If you purchase a ticket for the London Bike Show it is valid for entry to all four shows.
