Foffa/IG Nocturne bike design competition

ShareThis

Dowsett Foffa

Going Going Bike webstore partner Foffa Bikes has launched an exciting design competition with the IG London Nocturne race organisers that will see the winner take home a £1,000 single speed bike built to their own specifications and style.

The competition invites you to create your dream design for a bike based on Foffa’s bespoke bike design tools on www.foffabikes.com.

Once your design is complete you need to take a screen capture of your design (using the Print Screen button on your PC/Laptop/Mac) and then paste your design on to the IG London Nocturne Facebook page (www.facebook.com/TheNocturneSeries) for it to be submitted to the competition.

How to win

From there, five entries will be shortlisted. This will be based on the number of likes each design receives on the Nocturne Facebook page, so it is in your interest to get as many people to like your design as possible to be in with a chance of winning the bike.

From the five, one lucky winner will be picked on the night of the Nocturne at Smithfield Market by the event organisers and sponsors. The winner of the competition will have their own design worth up to £1,000, built by the Foffa Bikes team and delivered shortly after the event. Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd places.

Design entries for the competition close a week before this year’s IG London Nocturne, which takes place on Saturday 9 June.

Celeb designs

Several cycling stars, including Garmin-Barracuda pro-cyclist David Millar and last year’s IG London Nocturne winner Alex Dowsett of Team Sky, have already put out celebrity design entries. Alex’s design can be seen in the picture at the top of this blog. It is based on Alex’s father Phil Dowsett, who has been  his inspiration for much of his career.

Phil’s father was a professional racing driver and so Alex went with a racing car themed frame, deep wheels, Rolls saddle and Bull Bars because he is known for his time trialling. He added a red chain to represent his life long condition of Haemophilia. Red being the signature colour for the disorder.

James Pope, Founder of the IG Nocturne said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Foffa Bikes on the event and launching this exciting design competition with riders like Alex. As a brand and manufacturer of bikes, Foffa Bikes epitomises style and creativity in cycling, which is becoming more and more important in the drive to get greater numbers of people out on a bike.

IG Nocturne programme

The Foffa Bikes competition forms part of an action packed programme for the night of the IG London Nocturne at Smithfield Market.

As well as the headline Elite Criterium race, an Elimination race for the professional cyclists has been added to the 2012 programme.

IG London Nocturne provisional schedule:

17:00 – Folding Bike Race heats
18:00 – Support Race (40 minutes plus 5 laps)
18:50 – IG City Criterium
19:30 – Brooks Penny Farthing Race
20:15 – Elite Elimination Race
20:40 – Schwalbe Fixed Gear Longest Skid
20:55 – Folding Bike Race Final (5 laps)
21:15 – Elite Criterium (50 minutes plus 5 laps)
22:15 – FINISH

Remember, the IG London Nocturne is free to attend for spectators. Alongside the racing there will be trade stalls and an exhibition area. Organisers also plan to have entertainment on the day.

Smithfield Market is close to the financial heart of London. The nearest tube stations to the event are Farringdon/Barbican.
