Second hand and used bicycle buying guide
Flipphandle needs you

Previously on the site we’ve blogged about backing a bike security lock fundraising project via the concept of crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is basically where projects creative or otherwise can raise funds via a website or through an event by appealing to the general public. Backers tend to be multiple but the amounts given to the project by individuals tend to be small.
In the case of the lock, we pledged $1 to help the inventor reach his final target of $37,500 to put the lock into a production. Now a similar crowdfunding project that involves a cycling related invention has come to our attention.
Introducing the Flipphandle
A Twitter follower @flipphanfle (Alejandro Lacreu) contacted us to tell us about his Flipphandle innovation and his attempts to raise awareness and funds using the crowd fundraising concept via the KickStarter website.
Invented by Alejandro, an Argentinean who now lives in New York, the Flipphandle is an accessory that allows you to turn and lock your handlebars at 90° at the push of a button.
Putting the handlebar at 90° lines the handlebar with the front wheel and the frame so the bike lies or stacks flat. The practical application of this means that a bike will take up far less space in a hallway or anywhere space is limited. The Flipphandle forms part of the handlebar stem.
$75,000 needed
Testing of prototypes has been successful and Flipphandle is now ready for production, which is why Alejandro is now asking for funding assistance via the crowdfunding effort.
Alejandro is looking to make a pilot production run of 1,000 units and requires $75,000 to make his dream come true. Money donated will go to manufacturing this very first production run. Currently the funds donated stand at $1,935 with 31 people backing the project. The deadline for the fundraising effort is September 13.
