Bragging rights up for stake for London cyclists

Transport for London is to run its successful London Cycle Challenge again this year as it looks to get more people out cycling either to work, school or via leisure rides.
The London Cycle Challenge encourages groups of friends, families, work colleagues or schools to create teams to challenge each other – and other teams – to see who can cycle the most miles. Miles equal points and more points means a chance to win cash awards to be spent on cycling goods.
Entrants simply join or register a team at the London Cycle Challenge website, and then log their miles throughout the challenge.
Progress can be checked on a real-time leader board and friendly rivalry is encouraged by joining the London Cycle Challenge 2011 Facebook group.
The challenge runs place between June 18 and July 15 and is open to everyone who lives, works or studies in London.
The London Cycle Challenge has four categories of awards: Best performing category 1 team (two-10 members), Best performing category 2 team (11-50 members), Best performing category 3 team (50-100 members), Best performing category 4 (101-plus members).
A first, second and third prize is available in each award category with the cash worth of cycling goodies increasing depending on how many members in your group. For instance, first prize winners in category 4 receive £750 worth of goodies. Schools that participate in each category will win £750 of cycling goodies for their school.
