Back the bid to bring the Tour de France to Yorkshire

Yorkshire has made a formal bid to host the opening stages of the 2016 Tour de France following an initial register of interest a year ago.
Welcome to Yorkshire, Yorkshire’s tourism agency, is leading the bid and has already had a series of meetings with Tour de France organisers, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), over the technical parts of a bid including potential routes through Yorkshire.
ASO are due to visit Yorkshire to review proposed routes in May ahead of a decision to award the 2016 Grand Départ this summer.
Yorkshire will be competing against Barcelona, Venice, Berlin and Scotland, who have all either lodged an interest or made formal bids.
To help with the bid and to show ASO that there is public support to bring the Grand Départ to Yorkshire, Welcome to Yorkshire has set up a Back the Bid portal, where you can register your support for the bid – http://www.yorkshire.com/back-the-bid.
We’re signing up to show our support, we suggest you do to!!
