Fixed Wheel bike
A bike with only one gear and no freewheel or brakes. Originally the preserve of track racing but now favoured by couriers and others seeking a low maintenance option.
Type of bike made famous by Brompton. Ingeniously engineered bikes that not only fold up into a small size but are also efficient to ride.
The part of the frame which holds the front wheel and is made up of two blades which hold the wheel in place by way of skewer.
The skeleton of a bike to which all the other components are attached. The frame is usually made of either aluminium, carbon, titanium or steel.
The individual frame number affixed to the frame by the manufacturer that acts as its unique id code.
