The two Women only Cycletta events that take place in the autumn have confirmed their routes after road closures were agreed with the police forces that cover the rides.
The rides, which are supported by British Cycling, will feature two 40km rides on closed roads in the north and south of the UK
The Cycletta South event, which takes place on Sunday 11th September, will start and finish in ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire. The course will also take in the small towns of Ivinghoe, Cheddington, Mentmore and Slapton. For more detailed information on the Cycletta South route and the route map click here.
The Cycletta North event on Sunday 2nd October is centred on Tatton Park, Manchester and the route takes in the small towns of Ashley, New Mills and Little Warford. For more detailed information on the Cycletta North route and the route map click here.
Both routes have been specifically designed to provide a challenge, while remaining achievable and accessible for women with varying degrees of fitness. Along the routes, riders will be supported with mechanics stations, feed stations and toilets.
Victoria to ride Cycletta
Victoria Pendleton, the current Olympic gold medallist and women’s cycling role model, who is an ambassador for Cycletta, will be cycling in both events.
“I’ve seen both routes first hand and think they will be perfect. The chance to cycle on these roads without the concern of traffic rushing past you will be a joy and something I’m really looking forward to. They aren’t so challenging that relative newcomers to cycling can’t manage them, but they will still give an experienced cyclist a chance to enjoy the day and especially the traffic-free roads.”
Olympic Badminton Silver medallist Gail Emms, who is also a Cycletta ambassador, will be taking part in Cycletta South.
Macmillan Cancer Support is the partner charity of Cycletta, while Going Going Bike is also supporting the event.
Places on both Cycletta events are filling up, so don’t leave it too late to get signed up. Register here.
